Deafening Headers???

Ok, I've got an '88 Cherokee with a 4.0 inline six. I just spent the weekend installing a new intake, 58mm throttle body and spacer, and new exhaust headers. I noticed a TREMENDOUS power increase, but also it's DEAFENING, I figured that it would be a bit louder but it's at the point that when I'm accelerating it sounds like a helicopter's in the back seat. Is this normal? I checked and made sure that all the connections were good and that the intake and exhause manifold sealed well and everything was fine. Any suggestions?

Got a muffler??
If you are running open headers it would be pretty obvious why.

Your header is not mounted properly or you need a new gasket for the collector. Or the pipe is rusted through somewhere.

I just peeked around with a flashlight and sure enough I can see a cracked gasket on the collector, thanx. If I can see it that means it's probably a big crack.
