Dana 44 Narrow Track

I found a Dana 44 narrow track front axle housing out of an '89 grand wagoneer. I am curious about the axle shafts from my dana 30 swapping over into this axle. I figured it would be a no, but when I searched for axle shafts on autozone's website, the shaft it gave me for the 89 grand wagoneer, and for my 98 grand cherokee have the same part number. I'm really hoping I can use my axle parts to swap over onto this stripped axle. Can anyone verify?

Since its almost always the axle shafts that break, what do you hope to gain by swapping in a D44 and using the same shafts? Get some alloys for you D30 and wheel it.

They wont fit, different spline count and the length is a little off too I think.

Thats what I figured. I bent my dana 30 pre running. Spline count is off, The 44 has 30 spline.

What about my knuckles?

So after some research, my zj dana 30 uses the same 297 u joint that the narrow track dana 44 does. But the ball joints are not the same. So I am trying to decide if my dana 30 knuckles will fit onto the ball joints of the 44. If so, I should be able to mount my d30 knuckles onto the dana 44, use my dana 30 outer shafts and d30 hub assemblies, and d44 inner shafts. I realize I am retaining the weak d30 assemblies from the inner shaft out, but those are easy to replace. And I have to be able to drive my jeep to work in order to pay for upgrades. I understand the low torque breaking of axle components, but this is mostly a prerunner. I have bent 2 axle tubes now, and never had a problem with the shafts, bearings, or knuckles because quite simply, my tires dont get enough traction on the sand to break these components (at least yet). I am mostly trying to get my d44 in and running until I can upgrade. Any input?
