Dana 35 weep hole?
I just purchased a complete Dana 35 with 411 gears and posi to replace my 307's on my 93 YJ. While I was cleaning the housing getting ready to paint it I found what appears to be a weep hole on the axle housing, about 2 inchs away from where is attachs to the pumkin. The hole looks like someone uses a drill bit to drill into the axle until the tip just broke through. The hole is mid-way up the axle housing facing front.
Is this something that is supposed to be there?? It almost looks like someone drilled it for some reason? I could weld it over if needed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Could it be from a the hard brake line brackets?

No, the brake line brackets are in place on top of the housing.

I looked again and its actually on the front side of the pumpkin, sorry about that. I looked at my old pumpkin and there is no sign of this hole on it. I think it may have been where they poured the metal into the mold and then filled the hole but the fill came out or someone drilled it for an unknown reason.
