D60 or D44 high steer setup, I'm going crazy, help me out.

I'm looking for advice from anyone who knows how to set up a high steer system on a d44 or d60.

I realize that first i need to buy the arms and then have the knuckles machined, that's the easy part.

What is driving me crazy is how to setup a tie rod and drag link.

Will the stock ford tie rod ends work on the new arms? Or do I need to build something. How can I connect the drag link to the system? I realize there is two holes on most passenger side arms, but what do i use, pivot ends, heim joints. I can't really find a writeup anywhere about this stuff.

Does the stock pitman arm on my YJ work? Or do I need one from a chevy or wagoneer?

I would appreciate any help guys.

hi steer

Setting up a hi steer in your jeep isnt really that difficult.Once you get your arms[either dana44 or dana60 ] installed, centre your wheels and take a measurement between the two opposite holes. This should be your tie rod.Take measurement and mark it down. Now depending on what tie rods you are using take the measurement of the threaded end to the centre of the tie rod end.Now make the new tie rod the exsact length that you inituially measured MINUS one tie rod measurement. So said tie rod length is centre to centre 60 inches minus one TIE ROD measurement of say 5 inches you will make up a TIE ROD length of 55 inches! This will give you a good starting point to start you set up!When you make up you DRAG LINK centre your wheel and do the same measurements. This will get you damn close to the proper lengths etc.I used dom tubing and chevy tie rods!I did not have to change my pitman arm but had to open it up some so the bigger CHEVY tie rod ends fit!Good luck Mike

Thanks, did you do the same thing for your drag link too?
