d44 axle seals

i have just finished the regear on my front D44. when i got the tooth pattern right, i tried to replace the seals that i got with my rebuild kit. the seals were wrong so i went to napa. they had the same seals for the axle as the rebuild kit. the sales man looked up the specs. on the seals and they were different from the ones that he pulled out of the box. does any one know whats going on here? the axle is out of a 89 jeep grand wagoneer. i have to run off to class soon but when i get back i will try to post a pic of the seal that i have.

When you say that it's not the same one - is it too small, too large?

Were there any "optional" axle changes for that year? If you can't get what you need from Napa, call Robert Casaday at Riverside gear - 877-614-GEAR - he's got everything and every old, dusty manual ever created in the last 30 years and loves finding stuff like this for you.

He helped me with seals, bearings, joints and the works for my front and rear Dana 44's and he can help you, too.
