D35 axle swap
OK so i know the D35 is short lived in TJs that see any hard 4wheelin. What i'm wondering is how hard is it to do a field swap if one breaks while on the trail. What tools, spare parts and anything should i have with me. It might be awhile before i round up the cash for D44

Its best to bring along spare axle shafts so, you can replace them.
To fix it you'll need: Strong jack stands 6 tons if possible Hi Lift Your tools A strong magnet A pole to poke inside the axle tube to get the metal pieces that broke or stuck inside Extra diff. fluid Plastic bag to drain the old diff. fluid Picks to pull the C-Clip out Needle nose to pull things out Hammer and screw driver to open the diff cover Black RTV for your new gasket seal A blade scraper to remove the old diff gasket Cans of break fluid to clean the inside of the axle tube and diff case A roll of plastic so, You can lay on when you are on the ground Garbage bags for your garbage These are most I can think of but, I am sure there maybe some I missed. If the time ever comes and you do break an axle shaft try to work neat and be organized it will make things a bit more easy to get the job done. Also, make sure you secure your jeep so it will not move or fall when the jeep is up in the air a few feet. Work on a flat area and think safety at all times. Good Luck and I hope this helped a bit.
