Cv joint question

Hi there I've got a front cv joint that is clicking when I turn an I can hear a hum coming from it when I'm accelerating. I've taken a look and the boot is slipped off and im wondering if I replace the boot and repack it with grease will it fix my problem or does the whole cv joint need to be replaced?

Thanks for any help

If you have noise coming from the CV then you need a new assembly. When the boots tear or seperate then the grease flies out, and water, dirt debris come in and do damage.

What he said. ^ ^ ^ If the joint is making noise, it's shot. Replace.

The road goes on forever, the party never ends....
