That would be a nice upgrade for the Jeep.

Never ridden in one have ya?

If you like diesels or not doesn't matter, that is still kinda cool.

idk seems like more people on the forum would opt to put a diesel in their jeep than a 350

Only problem with a diesel is that they weigh over double the average weigth of a 350.

Umm, just throwing this out there, but maybe people choose diesel over a 350 swap because diesels have crazy torque numbers, and you can modify them for more HP/TQ very easily.

depending on the diesel, it might actually fit better.

350's have header/width issues, inline diesels may not. ('may' means i dont know, and am purely speculating )

The reason diesels are better especially for wheeling is because of the the amount of torque they put out for their displacement. The big V-8 Diesels put out huge amounts of torque and they're great, for large trucks like superdutys, not for jeeps (unless it looks like the one above) because of their weight. In Europe the new JK wrangler is getting a 2.0 (might be 2.2) 4 cylinder turbo diesel, it puts out 300ft-lbs of at 1400 rpms, and to top it off it will most likely have better fuel economy than any gasoline powered Jeep offered in the US.

that's a perfect example of my "inline diesel fitting better than a 350" theory!

I would love to have a diesel in my Rubicon, the AEV 2.8L CRD Diesel Unlimited gets over 20mpg with 37" rubber and stock gears at 70-75mph. Way more torque, the taller stock gears extend u-joint and related drivetrain life due to less rpm's, better milage, what's not to like, besides the weight if you choose to swap in a heavier diesel. I 2.8L out of a Liberty, or the new 3.0L won't add rediculous weight to a TJ.
