Enough to rip apart the entire driveline and possibly the frame.

If you want to go with a diesel get a smaller engine. The 5.9 diesel would require a new tranny, tcase, axles, driveshafts, beefed up frame. They use that engine on 1 ton trucks. Theres no way a small Jeep frame will hold up to that abuse.

The frame would be fine. They also put big-blocks in 1-ton trucks, but there are plenty of Jeeps out there running em. I actually saw a few CJ7's awhile back that ran Cummins engines. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about diesels to really give you details on a swap.

they are also heavy as hell. i wouldnt want one for the fact that weight would be too much to get used to.

It has roughly 210-300 HP and 555 to 610 ft-lb of torque depending on the year. They are heavy 500lbs or more. The 4-banger is a bit less wieght.

X2 - Built identical to the I-6, minus two cylinders.

Here's a little info on the I-4 swap into a Land Cruiser:

a big block gasser doesnt have the torque that a diesel has.
I know for a fact that the 6.5 turbo diesel in my chevy weighs over 1000 lbs.
I am pretty sure that a cummins weighs more that that.

i just sold my 3/4 ton dodge with a diesel.... the weight of the engine is way more than any gasser.... the head alone is as heavy as a 350.. just food for thought...
