CJ7 HEI upgrade no spark

I just installed a GM HEI distributor in my 86 CJ7 258 and I can't get a spark. I had the stock electronic distributor in with no spark and figured it was a module issue. Had the module tested and it was bad. Tired of replacing modules with it and took it out to replace with what I thought was something more reliable, but I still don't have spark. I spliced the BAT wire from the solenoid and have 12v at the coil. Am I overlooking something??

You didn't hook the wire up to the tach terminal on the distributor did you?

That's a great upgrade and I've done it twice myself. It should fire right up. Where did you get the HEI dizzy?

Im not sure if the 6cyl dist gear works for that swap, like said above I always used the amc v8 gear. You might pull the dist cap and turn engine over to see if its spinning the rotor. That is a good swap though, it woke up my 83 when i still had the 4.2 in it.

Im not 100% sure but is the distributor rotation the same on a 6 as an 8?
