hi i am new to the site i have a 1978 cj5 jeep with a 1974 amc 360 motor out of a matador. anyways i replaced the lifters and rods because i had a nok when i put it all back to gether the fule pump wasent pumping fuel when the jeep was running i bought a new one and that problem is fixed its getting fuel. now the problem i have now is when its ideling i have to keep my hand over the carb to block some of the air going in to keep it ideling smooth. if i take my hand off it starts to buck and shake then dies. the sound of air sucking is really loud compaired to before i took the intake manifold off. to get the jeep to rev up a little i have to play with the throttle and move my hand to give it more air at times and restrict it at times if i just move the throttle on its own with out blocking the carb intake then it just dies. any ideas on what its doing.?
