cheap ponies

what is a good way to add some horsies to my 258 for less than a $100?


'81 CJ-7 Got it when I was 16!
'06 Hummer H3, boulder gray, Adventure Package(electric rear locker and 70:1 crawl ratio BONE STOCK)

try a K&N air filter, a high output coil and open up the gap on your plugs to .050. Just the plug gap thing will make a difference. Try it if you don't believe me. Hamy.

How much timing advance are you running? I set mine to 8-degrees at idle (500 rpm), which translates into about 15-degrees at 1500. This is much higher than stock, and it adds a little kick. However, you will need 89 octane gas (versus 87) and pay attention to the engine for a few days to make sure it's not pinging. Can't think of much else that is legal.

Currently an '86 CJ-7 and a '77 CJ-7 Golden Eagle---#4 and 5 following a '01 Sahara, '90 Sahara, and '85 CJ-7....

thanks for the suggestions! here in my county, the emission stuff just has to be ON the jeep nobody said it had to work... ideas on how to hollow the cat? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
