Catalytic coverter problem?

We have a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara with the Altitude package. The check engine light went on and came off a few times, but now stays on. It no longer says Econo when driving and when I had Auto Zone read it, the error code said something about the catalyst. Does anyone know what might be going on and what will have to be done to service it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I?m a novice. Is it pretty easy to check and see whether or not it?s a bad O2 sensor or bad catalytic converter? I have to take the Jeep in and get it serviced two weeks from now, would it be best just to let them do it? Also, how bad is a bad catalytic converter or O2 sensor for the vehicle?
