Has anyone ever installed the weber carb on their 258? How did the installation go? What were the results?

I need this carb too. My 1 barrel is leeking fuel out the butterfly shaft bushings. And from other posts this carb is not worth rebuilding. Ive heard the Weber is a piece of cake to install. I just am haveing a problem convincing the wife that "my running CJ5" needs a $400 carb. I can't believe nobody has done this mod.

I DID IT!!!

I did the weber carb yesterday!! Beautifull results!! The whole conversion went pretty well except for the idea of removing most if not all of the vacume lines. It just seemed weird removing items that the mfg placed onto the motor. But they are just restrictive pieces of s&%t that nobody needs anyhow. My only concern is that my jeep will most likely never meet an emissions check again. Oh well, my county does not have one yet.

The results are absolutely wonderfull!! My jeep has never started as easily as it did yesterday and today. The idle is perfect and the powerband is large.

ALSO - if you do some research you will find several companies that are selling this carb for 299.99 - 315.99 so the price has finally come down a little bit.

call this one because there page does not list their current sale price.
