Bored out TB questions?

Looking to get a little more mid range oomph out of my 95 4.0L HO. Do TB spacers work? I have seen them priced from $45 to $95, are some better than others? Also I have seen them rated at either 60MM or 62MM, which one works best? Besides the install anything else need to be done?
Thanks in advance.

I personally have never really been sold on how effective the TB spacer are. Most articles I've read either hate them or love them.

The bored TB's seem to get the thumbs up by everyone. If you do end up getting a bored TB and decided to get the spacer, make sure it's the same diameter as the TB.

You may even have to do a little grinding on the intake to open it up a little, but I have read people running the bored TB without modifing the intake diameter with good results as well.

As or 60 or 62, that I have no idea about. I have read a couple of articles about the 60mm jeepers creepers TB and no one seemed dissapointed. I haven't really read anything about the 62mm that I can remember.

Get a 1" smooth bore TBS and grind out the intake opening to match it. I would'nt waste money on a bored TB. The bottom of the TB can be bored out to get rid of the taper but the taper helps to increase the air velocity into the intake.

The goal of any performance modification is to increase the amount of air entering your engine. I have seen real hp numbers with bored TB's, as far as the spacers I don't know. I can't see them producing good numbers simply by making the air take a longer path. If you do go with a larger TB make sure and port the intake to match the size and smooth it as much as you can. Air needs a smooth uninterrupted path. Going from say a 60 mm TB to 62mm intake will cause air turbulence and will actually hinder air entering the engine.
