Bombshell Dana 44 covers have arived

Got my diff covers Friday. I will be getting them powder coated this coming week. I have lubelocker gaskets to try out as well. I will be using royal purple oil as well.

I'll post pics up as the project goes on.

Installed

Finally had the time to install the Bombshell.

While I was installing the cover I also had the chance to do a good inspection of the gears and locker. Everything looked great and there was just a fine dust of metal on the magnet. Not bad for 16000 miles.

Prior to install

Stock cover off

The little bit of metal on the magnet

The "Goods"

All cleaned up

All installed

Keep in mind that Poison Spyder does not recommend running the stock track bars with the Dana 44 covers. Right now my stock one is still on. I agree. There is little clearance between the bar and bombshell cover. I will be installing the Metalcloak track bar before I take the Rubi off road.

I ended up going with Royal Purple gear oil. Since the Rubicon has lockers in the differential it is required that a friction modifier is added or already in the oil. I was able to find a good price on Royal Purple on Amazon, and it already had the fiction mod in it, so I went with it.

Overall, easy install and I highly recommend the cover. Quality is top notch and you know they test there equipment in Moab, so that should speak for itself.

Happy Wheeling,
Uriah
