Videos of my ball joint remove and install

Videos of removal and install below.

I bought a OTC 8031 jeep/truck balljoint kit to replace the balljoints on my 03 grand cherokee. the balljoints came out with ease but I hit a brick wall when installing the bottom one. The cup to install the lower balljoint is too short and the half inch or so of metal below the threaded part of the balljoint is bottoming out about 1/8 " before the top of the cup can get to the driving surface. There isn't a longer cup in the kit so i either have to buy, or make a longer one, or I'm going to cut the metal below the threaded part of the balljoint as a last resort. I'll star looking for a longer cup tomorrow. I'm recording the job so hopefully a video will come out of this.

As a last ditch resort Harbor Freight has a spacer kit for around 50 bucks.
I often use rigid water/gas pipe nipples or couplings from the hardware store to make adapters.

Yeah, I wrote that at like 1 am when I was bleary eyed and came back in the house from my shop. I probably wasn't making much sense. I will post a few photos tonight. I came up with the solution today. I had a piece of schedule 80 pipe that fit the lower balljoint perfectly and will fit onto one of the driving cones for the press. Trimmed it to the right size on the lathe and am now set. Hopefully I will get the balljoints in tonight and will have a youtube video posted.

I bought a ball joint install kit from harbor freight this summer. Just did my uppers the other day. The HF kit was just barely useable. I haven't tried it on the lowers yet. If I had to do it again, Is just get the kit from advance or autozone. Worked good last time.
