I added A/C to my 1995 Jeep Wrangler 2.5L myself and it was running fine for a week and then I was at idle at a stop light and the pressure in the system built up too high and the release valve on the compressor opened and released refrigerant. It has happend to me twice while at idle and I took it to the place where I had the system charged and they told me I need an electric fan in front of the condensor to keep it cool and the pressure down at idle. They proved this to me by showing me the pressure rising at idle and then put a shop fan in front of the grill and the pressure went down. I live in Dallas, Texas so I now how hot it can get around here but I asked the Jeep dealership that I bought the A/C system from if they ever install these electric fans and they said no. They guy at the dealership said it could be a bad fan clutch but the service staion I took it to said the fan clutch look okay. I do have a grille screen installed in front of the grille. It has holes in it to allow air in but could it be restricting air flow and causing the problem? Could the jeep dealership identify a problem with the fan clutch that a regular service station could not? Sorry for the long post!
