99 jeep won't shift out of park

Hi, I have a 99 Jeep Cherokee Classic that will not shift out of park. The gear shifter doesn't move at all. When I have my foot on the brake the button in the shifter goes in but I cannot select any gear. When I start the engine I can hear a load vibration on my feet, like someone is hitting my floor pan with a rubber mallet.

Check the motor mounts and the transmission mount. If they have failed, the engine can move enough to bind up the the transmission selector. Inspect the transmission shift mechanism under the center console, make sure everything is connected and moves smoothly. Make sure the transfer case is properly engaged in 2wd. Remember, 4wd is for use on slippery surfaces only. Do not use 4x4 on dry pavement.

Is the shift lever moving through the pattern but the transmission not going into any gear or does the lever not move at all?

Sounds like a mount.
