94 wrangler engine swap

Hello . I just bought a 94 wrangler sport 5 speed....the motor is bad so I need to replace. What years and different models of jeep engines could I use without having to do any mods? Looking to replace the 4 banger with s straight 6 HO. Any ideas? I found an 88 comanche w/ 5 speed would that work? Thanks

Is there anyone that can help me? Do I need to stick to certain year jeeps to make it work with no mods? Does it have yobbe just another wrangler or can it be cherokee or something else? Will an inline 6 from a automatic wrangler work on my five speed? Thanks

Not sure of which years will give you a trouble free swap, but as far as models it shouldn't matter. The trans type shouldn't matter either, just have to swap the flex plate for the flywheel if you get one from an auto trans Jeep.

Did you ask over in YJ tech? May get an better answer than mine there.

I was told on a different post that if I put in a 4.0 HO my 5 speed tranny/ transfer won't be able to handle it since it was originally a 4 banger? On someone else's thread I read that I could use the engine..v6 or v8/ tranny/ transfer out of a dodge Dakota.....found a complete donor Dakota so don't know which way to go. I can find tons of cherokee and grands for sale but all paired to automatic transmission......help

The only thing that will go in there with no mods would be another 4 banger. Anything else will require moving/building mounts and at least some electrical work....
