89 YJ Cold Air Intake 2.5 TB
Hey guys im new to this jeep stuff. i put a homemade cold air intake on my islander a few days ago and it ran very well for a while then it started missing out as if it was having a hard time firing. so i decided to do a tune up on it. i changed the plugs wires rotor and dist cap. when i got the sparkplugs out i could tell that it was running very very rich. is there a sensor in the stock aribox or something that could have thrown my air to fuel ratio? so i put the stock air box on it and it runs fine now ... but slower.. is there anyway to get any more power out of those 2.5s because it doesnt like to go much faster than 60-65. Thanks Guys!

Well, are there any vacuum lines or wires going to the air box? If so you need to find what they're for.
BTW, a 4cyl powered box isn't very aerodynamic, so speed isn't gonna be easy to get. |

what tires are you running? a Cold Air Intake is pretty much useless. see tech thread linked in my sig for that subject.
if you've got larger than stock tires you need to regear.
