78cj 400auto fluid is pink

Ea I changed my transfer case today and the fluid that came out of the tranny tail shaft was pink. Not red. Almost like strawberry milk. Is that normal?? Could it have had some kind of stop leak in it or what?? What should I do??

I assume your running a Q trac. The recommended oil for that case should be the same color as gear oil. If it has a part time case in it, then it may be running ATF instead.

Pink is either very frothy with foam/air or sign of water intrusion. What t-case is it?

It's the older q trac full time. I put tcl1 fluid in it just for the q trac. It's the tranny fluid that's pink.

When in doubt, change it.

If you own a Renix Jeep, you'll want to check this out.

I'm with streetglideok in thinking the transmission was overfilled causing it to become frothy with air bubbles. Either way, I would do a full flush immediately.

If you check the dipstick and it's not the same color, you may have had seepage stuck between tcase and trans that got water in from the top. If it is pink then the trans cooler may have imploded. If so, the rad will be low often and a pinkish color too. Just happened on my near new 3 core in my Comanche that I can't find the receipt for to warranty it out. AW4 has been running 1/2 ATF and 1/2 antifreeze since I've been too sick to work on it. I have another trans to go in but not healthy enough to work outside (or go to my new job even)
