72 CJ5 running fine one day, won't start the next

All, I need some advice. I purchased this CJ5 in May and have been driving in frequently since. The engine is an AMC 304.

I drove it the previous weekend but when my wife tried to drive it during the week she could not get it to start.

The Jeep will crank freely and quickly but will not fire.

I have replaced the coil and tested spark (pulled #1 plug inserted screwdriver, spark jumped to engine block).

I pulled the fuel line from the carb and turned her over, fuel spurted into the jar I held.

So I have spark, I have fuel, I have engine crank speed. I feel like timing check is next but I am on unfamiliar ground. How can I check/set the initial timing? I am uncertain what type of dizzy but here are some pics:

Other posts have mentioned timing chain jumps, any tips on how to check this?

Thank you guys in advance for any guidance you can provide. I love my CJ and can't stand to see him sitting there

Look for a ceramic part that either has wires on each end of it or one that plugs into a socket. It is called a ballast resistor. It may look like this one in this link:
Jump it with a wire and see if it starts. If it does start, replace it.

Do you know what was good about the good old days? I wasn't good, And I wasn't old!

Senators and Congressman should wear uniforms like NASCAR drivers so we could identify their corporate sponsors....
