71 CJ rear axle into 99 TJ

You guys are going to have to bear with me here my mechanical and technical skills and knowledge are currently in the "development" stage. I have researched the topic slightly but am having issues finding the right specifications.

I have access to a fully built rear dana 60 that was going to get mounted on a 71 cj at a very good price and would love to jump on the opprotunity, but i am unsure if the axle will work under the TJ. The 71 CJs rear axle had the differential offset towards the passenger side. I am unsure how much the offset is. I hear that ford 8.8s are offset as well (around 1.5 -2 inches). My question is does anyone know what the offset distance is on 71 cj rear axle? and if so will the offset distance put too much stress on my driveshaft?

I also know that the d60 didnt come out of the CJ. i can get the numbers off the actual axle this weekend. i think its from an old ford though.

I have a 99 tj with 3.5 inch lift and a SYE

I had a 71 CJ5 so haer we go.

1The 71 Dana 44 in a CJ5 is offset and narrow track you can not use it.

2the 80's CJ wide track axles are still not wide enough for your TJ.

3 A Scout 2 rear Dana 44 is wider then a CJ not not as wide as a TJ

4 You could use a Ford 8.8 or a Isuzo Dana 44 close. see JP mag

5 or a TJ/TJL rear Dana 44 or TJ/TJL Rubicon Dana 44
