5.2 won't start

I have a 1995 Grand Cherokee with 160k.

I got home and turned off engine, 30 minutes later it wouldn't start. It just turns over but won't fire.

I get a spark when I put a wire near ground. I shot starting fluid down the throttle body, but didn't catch even once (I ruled out fuel pump due to that).

I was looking to replace the timing chain, as I thought it had jumped a tooth, but a mechanic said that was unlikely.

I am thinking Crank Position Sensor, or Cam Position Sensor - but didn't get any engine light warnings. Since I disconnected the battery to do work, I was told that any codes would have been lost.

Any help is appreciated. This is my primary vehicle.

Thank you!

Those sensors sound likely. If jumped time it wouldn't crank smooth. Check coil wires and plug wires

Thanks. I was told to check the plugs for fouling, harness for shorts, and MassAirFlow by removing plug.

I have been going through 1.5-2.0 quarts of oil each 1,000-1,200 miles and mileage is down to 7.5-8.0 around town (12-14 on hwy, used to be 20-22!).
