4.7 Stroker Build
All progress and acquired parts will be posted in this thread, keep tabs if you're interested.
Over the next many months, I'll be aquireing parts to this build and eventually have enough money to do this - my hopes are by christmas, next summer at latest. I hate to keep you guys waiting, but my finances dont even support me starting to gather parts; I'm insane for starting right now ![]() As a few of you know, I ordered a new crankshaft last week, the key component to this build. As it turns out i was able to get my hands on a 2nd Generation crank, a standard standard "new" with the long snout and 12 counter weights. I have to say the odds of finding this crankshaft in its new condition is incredible to say the least. I also got a set of Federal-Mogul main bearings, and they seem to have sent me an additional set of main bearings for some reason and rod bearings. I also have a 1cm stainless spacer for my long snout that i just ordered from Hesco that should be delivered on friday or monday. here are some pictures. I'm pretty exited! ![]() ![]() ![]()

You can probably find the sticker on ebay.
I'll be pretty excited to watch this build come along. If you don't mind my asking, how much did that crankshaft set you back? |

Looking forward to this build. I have been throwing the idea of doing a stroker on the 4.0L for the past couple of months.
Best of luck with the build. ![]() |

I still got "4.0L" on the side lol. And good job on building your own. I wanted to do that but my rig is a DD and my old 4.0 had a hole the size of a softball in it so I needed an engine quick lol.

and will continue to be so.thanks, but im not mechanically inclined enough to do this myself, im pulling all the parts together and im going to have a machine-shop pull it and do all the work. the motor is too delicate of a part for my butterfingers to touch. not to mention i dont even have a motor crane. |

RPM Machine, Daymon is a very easy person to deal with. knowledgeable, but inaccurate. if you order through them, make sure you know what you want and the issues that come with it before you talk to him
for example, he told me i needed to remove the main girdle and that spacing it would not work. SILLYNESS |

a thought came to mind today
what about my Radiator and clutch? As far as the radiator goes, i have one picked out if im forced to replace it, but is it necessary? any one know if people with 4.7's are having cooling problems? and the clutch - is the factory clutch up to the 325+/- ft-lbs of torque? its only got 18k on it |

I've gone through a clutch already with mine, although with my gear ratio(3.07) and tire size(33) combined I kind of expected this. BTW My clutch went out while trying to get my lil bros dakota out of a mud pit and the 17 year olds neglected to tell me "none of them" when I asked them which tires were spinning. lol

I think an HD clutch will do fine, I haven't heard alot of good things about centerforces in jeeps.
Oh and my Ax-15 is starting to crap out on me, it was going to happen anyway I think the stroker, tires, and gear ratio just sped up its slow agonizing death lol. Just be aware that if your tranny grinds now its only bound to get worse.
