I was wondering if it would be a good idea to put 4.56 gear into my 8.25" rear axle of an 89 XJ Pioneer? I have 33" BFG Mud Terrains and I love to go muddin' and rock climbin'
I know I would want to put the 4.56's in to get a little more than the original stock power, but I was wondering if the axle would handle the gears and 33's? I was looking into upgrading to a D44 or a ford rear end. Or even a higher spline count and some super u-joints? I don't want to worry about my axle when I'm stuck in a tough position and need to give it some gas to get out..
