4.0 replacement motor

Were is a good place to get a replacement 4.0 liter crate motor or long block I think I am going to need on for my 92 it has some rocker arm nosie and has low oil pressure I just want it to last till I can save up enough for a new one. or would it be better to get it rebuilt once it craps??

Run some 10W-30 or 20W-50 in it to builid up some extra oil pressure until you are ready. Aside from Mopar (which offers a 3 year 36000 mile warranty) there are tons of places for a crate engine, you could always go to a salvage yard and go used if you can find a low mileage one.

I've got one you can have for $50 lol. It ran when I pulled it from an XJ, only problem was it reved uncontrolably high from twisting on a broken motor mount. It has 190,000 and I don't know the history of it. I'm the 3rd owner. I'd say buy a junker and build a stroker. It isn't hard or expensive, you can do it for under $500 + engine. All you need is a 258 crank and connecting rods and your set. Or if you really want to be sure it's a good engine, get the 258 crank and rods, bore it out .030 and get some cheap pistons.

Well I could go pull a engine from the junkyard and build a stroker but I dont know if could rebuild it myself?? I dont really have the tools or expertece (spelling??). but a stroker for 500 + engine sounds pretty good! I think I could pull the motor and reinstall it it is just getting it rebuilt.

Bet either of these guys would walk you through what you needed for the upgade to their engine...

One of these plus what you already have should equal a solid engine.

Jaspers can be expensive, but you get a good warranty behind it. At the shop I work at we are a Jasper installer and we actually do a lot. We have a Hummer H1 and a Motorhome right now that we are doing. I believe the warranties are like 3/yr 75,000 parts/labor.
