4.0 with a jet chip / K&N filter

I recently sold my 98 TJ which had a 2.5 and a 5sp and bought a 2000 TJ with a 4.0 and an automatic. I was wondering what minor mods worked well on the 4.0? Is a jet chip and K&N worth it?

Thanks,

Don

I just bought the K&N filter that fit the stock filter housing, i have noticed better gpm and response. No point in me spending 300+ on a CAI right now. As far as the chip, it depends. I don't have one but i have seen threads where they work and where they don't so it's up to you. I'm pretty sure they change the power band so you will lose torque which is what a jeep is good for.

Gears and/or cubic inches are the answer--bolt ons might net you a bit of throttle response or a ft. lb. or two of USABLE torque at best. Most all claims of HP gain are at the top end of RPMs.
