350 in a yj
What will I need to completely a 350 transfer into a 95 yj? The 350 is from a 77 vette, the Jeep is a 2.5, will I need the transmission of the 350 or can I keep the stock 5spd?(it's been regeared to 4:88) are there different motor mounts I'll need?

You'll need the engine, transmission(ax5 won't hold up), adapter trans to xfer. New motor mounts and radiator, This is just to start with, Ron

Transfer case, drive shafts, beefier springs and shocks especially up front.
V8's arggg heavy anchors. But man nothing feels or sounds like American cast iron.

you will need a new rear axle. The Dana 35 will blow up.

Check and make sure but the 4cyl NP231 has a different spline count then the 4.0L. Probably need the whole drive train, eng, trans-trans case, new drivelines, axles. Ever thought about selling and buying one with a V8 already installed? I have seen a few for probably less time and money. Just sayin. Don't let me get in the way I too built my rig the way I wanted it.

So I've already got a Ford 9" rear end and a spring over lift (front sits about 2-3 inches higher than back). So wouldn't I just need motor mounts and a new transfer case? Or would I also need a new transmission?

You don't want to use the stock AX5 with a 350.

The 350 I was looking at was sold yesterday. I'm going to buy a 283 from a guy here though so same principles should apply right?

Same amount of work, less torque=less chance of breaking parts, but it does depend upon the loose nut behind the wheel. Ron

Very true

The ax-15 is rated at 300ftlb of torque, that would handle a stock small block. Just another option, Ron

Novack has motor mounts that will give some adjustment for the motor follow the instructions. I have heard the AX15 will work I used a 700r changed the output shaft to match the tc 231. The trans mount will move about 2 inches. I am using the same axels front and rear and the 35 and 30 have held up.I do put my foot into it its so much more fun now. I put in a 305 which i rebuilt.

When I did my 350 swap I had a T-176 and dana 300 Xfer.

After doing the swap, I kinda wished I would have used the GM automatic tranny.

The T-176 is the most clunky shifting tranny ever, but so far I only had to replace a shifter shaft.

Oh Ya, I got over 110K on the swap and tranny rebuild. No problems. You will enjoy the extra power, torque and noise.

Here's what I've put in my 95 YJ
5.0 SBC, SM465 4 speed, D300 with twin sticks
Stock suspension with 3" lift (for now)
Stock axles (for now)
New drive lines front & rear made special by Rye Valley Gear in Sugar Grove VA
So far so good

The time now is 02:25 PM.
