30RH reverse servo info-help

I have a 97 TJ with the 30rh auto. My problem is I barely have reverse. On flat ground with just a touch of throttle she will back up. Any more pedal than that she shudders some then slips. All forward gears shift properly. Beings 1st and reverse are the same band, I believe my problem lies in the reverse servo. My question is....can I reach the reverse servo by removing the pan and valve body or must I pull the trans and the internals. Thank you in advance.
