304 upgrade

Any one have an idea on how to upgrade a 304 in a 71 cj5 away from points and to electrontic distributor? Can I just take a more modern distributor and replace it on the motor?
Thanks in advance.

I switched mine to the Motorcraft system - you will need the Ignition Control Module and Motorcraft distributor - these came stock on the later model (78 to 82?) V-8 Jeeps.
I just got ahold of a wiring schematic and totally surprised myself by having it work the first time. It's really not that hard to do obviously.
