231 transfercase stuck in 2wd

nothings easy : )

bought a 231 to replace my 249. after putting it in found out fill plug was stripped, guy never told me this. awesome.

Now got it filled with fluid and all hooked up and can't shift it out of 2wd. not a linkage problem cause when i throw a wrench on the case where the tab hooks up, it won't move. have the tranny in neutral, tried rolling the jeep a foot or two while under there with a wrench trying to shift it, nothing

so i'm assuming something inside is broken or should i try something else? it was my dumb fault to trust the guy saying it worked fine, i didn't know what to look for in buying a transfercase, i guess i'll know now

in case anyone has this problem after a swap, you can't use the shift indicator plug from the 249 on 231. maybe this is common knowledge, wasn't to me though ; )

pulled the plug and can shift it no problem, no i gotta find something to fill that hole
