2008 jeep patriot whining

I have recently noticed that when I am driving, once I get to about 25-30mph, the is a high pitch whining noise. It only happens while I accelerate, but if I let off the gas, it stops, but starts again when I push on the gas. I have read a couple things on the net, and I'm kinda leaning towards the CVT, but there is no problems with shifting or anything or loss of power. It doesn't seem to be coming from under the jeep, but more from the engine area, but I could be mistaken. Does anyone have any suggestions on what it could possibly be??
