2.5L '93 looking for advice

I read through some of the older posts and there appear to be conflicting opinions on what engine is best. I have the opportunity to get a '90 with a 4.2L, the whole Jeep actually. the '90 has a ton of body and frame rot. Easiest would be a tub swap but don't think that will be possible.

Should I do it and swap engines, tranny, and tires? Or should I just rebuild my 2.5?
We want to go offroading and put a lift and 33's on it. ('90 has the lift and 33's we would use)

2.5L has high mileage (150k+)

4.2L has 80k and tranny has 50 miles(yes 50) on it.

seems like a no brainer to me, but I am a newbie to this sport and playing with the toys.
What should I expect to pay? As I want it done right and this one is over my head...

Depends on what your strengths are. Are you willing to do more body work than engine work?

I have found the I4 2.5L to be very reliable. My 2.5 cranks out 140HP (87 Octane, E-10), 146HP (98 Octane, E-85) or 154HP with (E-100, 112 Octane) with a bore and Weber 34DGEC upgrade kit. The lead shop tech who did the work on the block said it was the best 150 he had ever worked with despite the damage from the previous owner. Its bored to 2.7L.

As for the I6 4.2L...
Its a good motor, more modern and lots more mods. So if you are more comfortable with body work get the I6. The I4 is just to hard to eek the same HP out of it.
