14-bolt rear axle. . .which type do I have???

How do I determine what style of 14-bolt rear axle I have? These are the variations I ahve heard of: 2 versions of full-floater; and standard SRW (single rear wheel), SRW hubs on C&C (cab & chassis) axles, and C&C.

Mine came out of a '73 Chevy 3/4-ton 4WD pick-up so I'm gonna throw a wild guess out there and assume that they are SRW, but I would like how to tell for sure.

Thanks!

there will be like 6 or eight bolts on the hub that sticks out other than the 8 lug pattern like a front axle hub with no lock out... thats a ff "full floater"
a semi-floater does not have a hub on the axle. anda full floater does

Thanks 1997 TJ Wrangler. . .then I have a FF 14-bolt. . .which is what I was hoping.

Anyone know what the differences between a SRW and a C&C axle are? Besides the obvious, which I'm guess is that the standard C&C axle is a dually axle, but how would I know if I had a C&C axle with an SRW hub.

Thanks!

1 ton

I do not think they made a 3/4 ton dually.
They did however make a single wheel 1 ton diff.

there was no factory 5.13's, the lowest factory chevy used was 4.56's. however you can go as low as 5.38's with the 14 bolt.

C&C and SRW housings are the same except for the hubs and the factory brake backing plates for the brake drums. other than that they are the same. they even use the same inner shafts.

i belive on JU i posted a link to some of your questions, if it was you?

there was several versions of a 14 bolt even the light duty version semi float in 6 and 8 lug. if you have hubs you have a FF witch is the better axle's to have. this way the extra weight is on the hub and spindle not the axle shaft, they only have to spin the hub witch in turns spin the tire's.
