10W30 in my Manual Transmission?

So I went to AA to buy some GL-3 gear oil 75W-90 Gear oil for my manual Transmission like it says to use in the Manual, but all I could find was GL-5, so I sucked it up and went to the dealership and asked for the oil for my transmission. Well, he comes out with 10W30 and shows me a Service Bulletin that says...

"04897622AA is a 75W90 oil. 04761839AC is 10W30 oil. The 04761839AC is recommended to be used in place of 04897622AA for improved transmission shift properties"

So, I bought myself some royal purple 10W30 and I'm going to put that in. Seems awfully thin to me but if the chrysler boys are recommending it, there must be a reason... Unfortunately the search here kind sucks, so I wasn't able to find any good info on this, although I'm SURE I'm beating a dead horse and/or ressurecting a commonly debated item.

Oh, he also told me to use regular old Dextron II/III Auto transmission fluid for my transfer case... Sound about right? That's what the manual says too.

this has been discussed several times recently. Yes you can use it. But if your looking for a quality GL3 gear oil, take a look at Redline products. MT90 is some good stuff.

Also yes, the transfer case doesn't really care what auto trans fluid is in it. Dex III is just fine.

T-Cases aren't picky. You can run motor oil in there and it will function properly.

Well I did the change out today, man, there was a LOT of crud on that drain plug, but the good news is that there were no big chunks. I put in some good 10W30, let's hope that lasts me for a while. I also changed both differential fluids, but didn't make it to the transfer case, that's for next weekend maybe. The goo that came out of the front diff looked the worst with a large amount of "glitter" coming out with the really thick blackened, oil. I took some pics of both diffs, I'll post some pics and hopefully I'll be able to shed some insight as to what I have.
Thanks again.

P.S. I'm wondering if it's not my imagination, but it's shifting better, it's running quieter and just feels smoother in general, what a difference.

Why do you say that? 10W-30 motor oil is roughly equivilent to 75W-90 gear lube.
