02 Liberty Clanks from under while accelerating

I just bought this liberty a few months ago, unfortunately it did not make this noise while test driving. Normally it will happen once the vehicle has warmed up to normal operating temperature and will happen more severe right after driving on the highway for an extended period of time. While accelerating something under the vehicle makes a loud clanking sound and of course increases with speed and eventually fades out. It really sounds like something is slipping. It is an automatic and it is 4 wheel drive, it happens in both four wheel and two but way more severe in two wheel. No body i have talked to knows anything about it and it is driving me crazy. I am fairly mechanically inclined however i have not worked on 4 wheel drive vehicles much. Any help would be greatly appreciated because im sure it is not a good thing that it does this. Thank you in advance and happy holidays.
