01 cherokee 4x4 problem

Hi all.
my 2001 cherokee 2.5td 4x4 has a problem with its 4x4.
the problem is that when im in reverse and the 4x4 is engaged the back wheels lock up. this seemed at first that the 4x4 was stuck in full time but the part time light is always on. the back diff is full of oil and there is no play in the u joint!! any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

on another note when the jeep is engaged in 4x4 and im trying to take off with a load or on a hill, the jeep finds it very hard to take off! this may be related to the problem above. when taking off and leaving the clutch out the jeep doesent seem to rev very high when trying to find the bite!! any help appreciated!!!
