i had my gf's xj w a 4.0 ho and auto trans well past the 85 mph mark on the speedo, probably 95 or so, oddly enough it felt smooth as silk, would i do it again, no, i was in a serious hurry and NEEDED to be somewhere. Would i do it in a wrangler? You can bet your a** i would try if given the chance, hers is all stock and had no problem reaching that speed, i was shocked it felt like it was gunna keep pulling. This was all on a "closed course" of course ; ) in case there are any bears (smokey and the bandit kind, not grizzly kind) reading this thread.

I have the Superchips Flashpaq 3875 Super Tune, which raises your top speed limiter to 148-MPH.

oh hell then i have hp tuners to tune my trailblazer SS and i set the top speed to 256mph 
You'll never do 148mph in that jeep...

What is so hard to believe that the Superchips Flashpaq Tune raises your speed limiter to 148 max? If you'd like, I could lower it to anywhere between 131 to 148 MPH. Would I EVER go that fast in my XJ? Not a chance... but it was an option that was offered so I took it.
Sorry, did I miss something? This thread was created to see what the physical top speed of your Jeep was. I didn't know it was a thread to see how fast you've gone in your Jeep.

80 but that's with the motor about to blow up. 60-63 @ about 3000 rpm's. That's with a 3 spd no O/D and gears. My gas mileage gets WORSE on the highway!! Single digits....

I believe the point is setting a limiter to a certain speed doesn't make that your top speed. An XJ would need a looooot of power to actually push itself that fast.
