Any one ever take off the top speed limiter, how fast would it go, are the older cherokees, mines a 2000, limited lower than 112 or not a all, or are they the same? I'm just curious

Regardless of a limiter or not, I don't think the XJ will go over 117. It's a brick on wheels, and the 190hp isn't going to overcome the resistance.

when it hits the limiter there is still more to go..but not much...i would think 125 - 130 would be the fastest is could go without a limiter, but 117 is where the limiter kicks in...

in that case, i've been cheated, according to my GPS, the limiter hit at 112, I assumed that this was normal, my friends chrysler products all cut out at 112, oh well

it would go faster than 117 without the limiter, but I agree that 125-130 would be it, because 5th gear wouldn't maintain speed

I've take'n mine way past 112 it was somwhere in the mph/kph marks (the red letters that say mph/kph) I was at M and climbing but it would not go much faster (maybe 10 mph faster tops) it was pretty scary the jeep started to vibrate not very bad but you could tell I was going fast. I was racing (I know very stupid belive me I know) a modded sentra specV and completely left him behind he caught up to me later and said his car just wouln't go any faster I don't know if mine ever had a speed limiter it used to be a cop car I don't know if that matters but the engine doesn't look modded or anything and it never had any emblems except the 4.0 litre one on the back driver side

cop ones have a limiter, but i think it is higher up..ask n20..his was a police xj
edit: now i know why you did so well in the autox..the police xjs come with stiffer sway bars than stock

no limiter that i know of on a police package XJ...
there is also no limiter on the renix system XJ's..
BUT, limiter or no limiter....a stockish XJ is not going to hit near 130...
