started my Fiberglass speaker box for the ol XJ check er out

Here it tis. Im just putting a old MTX 4000 in it i had layin around. It works well in small enclosures and handles like 200RMS which is what the cheap 4ch sony i got running it puts out bridged @ 4ohms (im too cheap to buy anything since all my stereo money is wrapped up in my Mustangs stereo LOL)

im currently putting on the rest of it and im on my last layer of glass so i can start grinding it half smooth and slap on some bondo. Still not sure if i want to paint it, carpet it, or vinyl.. any suggestions??

Paint it. It will conform to the curves better than vinyl or carpet.

Just particle board i had laying around the shop. Its not doing anything really but giving me a place to wrap the cloth around LOL

well i finished grinding it down smooth enough to start laying some lightweight filler on and then decide what to cover it with. It fits awesome and sound amazingly good. I was worried since it seems pretty small. I added some polyfill to it and think it sounds just as good as the 1.25cuft box it was in before. Im not looking for SPL just a little better SQ. Now i just need to install my polk components up front and then im done.

its hard to see the curves of the box due to the flash and the half sanded half not resin. but you all get the idea

that was my whole reasoning for making it, well that and this cost me 50bux to build.

ok so i finally found time to finish it all off. from the pics above i added another ring so i can flush in a speaker grill and i decided to not bondo over the fiberglass but i sanded it down a tad more to just knock down the high spots and found some nice fabric on sale, kinda like a fleece or wool. It stretches great and the adhesive didn't soak through so i am happy
