Soft Top in Automatic Car Washes

I recently purchased a 2017 JKU with a soft top. Is is ok to run it thru an automatic car was or should I just plan on washing it by hand. Your thoughts and experiences would be great to hear.

I had a 07 JKU with a soft top and used the brushless car washes on several occasions with no issues. I did find that hand washing was usually better and got my ride cleaner than the brushless locations.

Don't run it through an automatic washer, it will scratch your windows, and may actually damage your top. You should wash it by hand.

By all means, avoid the 'brush/cloth' type washes. Those cloths can be abrasive on soft and convertible tops.

I wouldn't want to drive a rag top through any auto car wash, brushless or otherwise.
Hell, the tops barely keep out a good rain. Running it through something blasting that kind of pressure on it is just asking for a soaked interior.

Automatic car washes will scratch the hell out of your paint anyway.

A careful hand wash with a microfiber towel or mitt (NOT a sponge) is your best bet.

Read your owners manual. Nothing more than a mild soap on the soft top windows. Rinse well with water until soap gone and very soft towels to dry. Otherwise you will be replacing windows every 2 years or so. I run mostly hardtops these days so I cant remember what I cleaned windows with.
