You guys are making me want to mod my jeep for the street. I offroad once a month at the most, street driven daily with 33s. I miss going fast, bad. Real bad...

Lee are you still running leaf springs in the rear? i know you went to the for 8.8 right? I was thinking about maybe just trying to do a poor mans 4link and coilovers....but i would hate to get measurements wrong and screw up the geometry. I guess it would be easier with a triangulated 4link but i bet the upper control arms would be super short.

And man I hate to keep going back to the XJ idea but i wonder if i could find some info on what Jeep ran on the front of thier scca sport compact race trucks from back in the 80's. I would love to rip up a road course in a 2dr XJ with a 500hp sbf and a 5 or 6spd.

I am using the stock leaf springs with 2 leafs removed from each side. I also made 2 new holes for the front pivot point higher up to lower it even more. For the rear I have a custom built 9 inch. I can give you the full details if you want, but basically it is 3.9 Richmond gears with truetrac differential

Oh ok cool.....but I think a 9in is a bit more than what I wanted to spend and a 8.8 can hold a huge amount of power with some easy guesseting so the axle tubes don't twist and a good diff cover with braces built in.

Since the Jeep is pretty light it should be alright. I originally wanted to use a Dana, but the builder talked me out of it and said the 9 inch would be lighter and just as durable for my intentions. I wanted everything to be beefy cause I knew I was gonna beat on it. But I spent a lot on the heavy duty race trany and rear. I also planned on a TH400, but the trans shop told me the TH350 would be better for me-lighter and less parasitic loss. And again, in a light Jeep, strong enough.

I run leaf springs as well. Mine were custom made from a local shop in Michigan. Do you have the 8.8? I just put a 9" in mine this year, but have been running a Dana 44 with nothing special other than Moser axles. I was worried about the rear on the asphalt though, which is why I went to a highly built 9". But in the sand, I never had an issue with it sending mid 800HP to it off the transbrake.

First, thanks to who ever gave me a 'thumbs up'.

My rear is a very highly built 9 inch. I did not want to have any breakdowns, so I went overboard with it.

Specs:

Strange Center N-1901, Daytona Pinion Support M-4614-B, Strange 1350 Pinion Flange U-1603, Richmond 3.89 Ring & Pinion, True Trac 31 Spline limited slip differential, Moser Engineering 31 spline axles, Ford 11 x 2 drum brakes

Postal jeeps do not make good hot rods at All to short and to flimsy of a frame and very poor handling
