lowering my 96 xj ---PICS!----

Ok, my *** end is sagging pretty bad, so I decided i want to lower the front alittle to match the back. If I pick up some stock xj coils from the junkyard, can't I just hack off one ring of the coil? The front only needs to come down about an inch or so.

Is there anything I have to watch for with the sagging leafs??
How about shocks? I'm sure I can run the stocks without a problem..

I can see it now, lowered alittle bit with some 255's on my icons..

Edit, I just lowered it, tell me what you think/...

My rear leaves are sagging bad and I did the same thing you are thinking about. Results:

Now with 16s, which will be wearing 255/55/16 when the Goodyears wear out. The 225s on now are 29" tall, and the 255s will be 27", so it will be another 2" inches lower. Freakin cant wait!

1" lower from the tires.

And I too have cut the front springs. Cut exactly 1 ring off, and it sits nice and level. Been running this way for a year now.

Nice color! I just found the end of the spring, and went straight up from there to cut. You might have to get it aligned afterward.

30"? 30 what?

I guess this is one way to make a bad situation(sagging rear) better. What about TJ coils? I have heard tha they will give your less height. Also, one other thing you have to take into consideration is the axle centering and caster (if it is changed that much at all).

I actually got lucky with my alignment. I needed it before I lowered it, and when I did it fixed the problem, that is a nice looking job btw! Looks very sporty.

The measurements are taken from the bottom of the flare to the center of the hub. Stock would be 17.5" front and 17" rear.

Yeah I know that, I'll take measurements from the area too, should end up being the same..
