Knocking and grinding under car

Hi I recently purchased my first jeep it's a 2000 jeep cherokee sport. After taking it for the first oil change it started doing this. When I am driving and I go over a bump I can feel something under the floor knocking around. When I feel this knocking around I can also feel something grinding. Idontthink it is the engine because when I hit the gas while in park it doesn't do it. Also when it does this if I let off the gas the grinding stops but something still bumps around for a few seconds. I've looked around online and found nothing. If anyone has any ideas what this might be it'd be great

Sounds like you may have snapped off a piece of the gear in your differential. If you open them up, you can probably remove the little piece and put it back together without issue. (of course you'll need to refill/reseal them). It should be the same price as a differential fluid change if you go to the right mechanic.

Heck of a good possibility your exhaust pipe is contacting the crossmember where it's routed above it. Usual cause is bad engine and trans mounts.

If you own a Renix Jeep, you'll want to check this out.
