Theres usually a crapload of people selling 4.2s on craigslist in fl. I get angry when I dont have the money or the need and they will probly go to waste in some other yj or cj as a stock replacement. From what Ive heard Titan is crap too, which youre now finding out. Get the parts and do it! Its not as complicated as it looks, it just takes time and patience and willingness to do stuff.

Edit: BAM!
http://daytona.craigslist.org/pts/1250622464.html

Doesnt say how much for the engine, but he seems negotiable.

Will the block from an 89 4.0 work? I can get one for a really good price.

Yes, and it's actually recommended. Renix blocks are cast out of stronger materials

i might be....im sure it wouldnt be light so shipping might be a killer.....

(just need the crank or is there more parts worth saving?) my zip is 49017 im sure you have a better idea of the wieght more than me so you should be able to get a shipping quote and see if its worth it.....

Is the crank from the '81 you have? If so that is the one I want Also I think I might try and find a 96+ block since they have more reinforcement on the bottom but I can get the '89 block for $50...

As long as the renix block is in good shape, (which I don't see why it wouldn't be?) I'd still choose it over the 96+ blocks. From all i've read the renix blocks are still the best for it especially at that price...I may be a bit biased though

Well I am gonna try and use SBC pistons so hopefully the block will be strong enough when that much material being removed.

maybe

What makes it better than any other year?
did you figure out how much that puppy weighs and get a shipping quote?

I have no pulled it out yet so im not 100% sure of the condition...i know the Po said something about the valves where wore out and he could keep them adjusted or something but that shouldnt effect the crank....anyways...let me know....I guess if you pay for shipping then its yours....But i better see a wicked cool 4.9l be made from it!

Oh and i have a 96 4.0 for sale too lol (maybe i should build a stroker)...ill make you a awesome deal, the entire drive train from my 96, plus a 81 4.2 delivered to your door for 1000 bucks. Im not kidding, I love road trips! lol.

From what I am seeing on Ebay they are charging $30 - $40 for shipping for the crank.
