I did at one point put a k&n cone on but it honestly wasn't any faster, and throttle response seemed worse, maybe due to not having a heat shield on it. On a side note, does anyone here notice that their xj shifts faster and harder in the 3 position than it does in drive?
even after the intake you're still going to have an issue on the exhaust side. for a stock flow head the factory exhaust manifold is plenty. but with your ported head, you will never maximize its flow unless you go to an aftermarket manifold.

its all about airflow. porting the TB, going with a 99+ intake manifold, and some sort of aftermarket larger exhaust system (from manifold to tailpipe) will really put the extra flow in that head to use

Drop in a K&N and cut out the airbox...hell just removing the silencer and cutting out the box made a noticeable difference for me. The

Wrong, I am saving up for something and I will give you a hint *4.9L stroker* By the end of Aug I will have enough money for the block and machine work and internals. I figured I would be wasting my time putting a cam in the 4.0 so I went to plan B.

edit: The only problem I am going to be facing is if the AW4 could hold up for long with a 4.9.

I don't know, I was going to have Titan make the short block but then I did some research on them and they look a little shady plus they wanted way too much for s a short block. So now I am back to square one.
