Hey guys, great thread. I did exactly this just this last summer. The drum sander kit works great but also if you go to Home Depot they have 60 or 80 grit 3in flap wheels that work great. I just took a pair of snips and cut out every other flap as close as I could get it and it worked prety well. The TB got pretty hot though, but it bored it out really evenly.

i was looking for a flap wheel but couldn't find one...i guess i will need to go and look at home depot. Yes it does get hot that is what made it take so long for me, having to wait for it to cool

Ok, a little updaye on my progress.

Well i never got around to ordering the sander, i got busy and just forgot about it.

That is until last night. I was up at my dads house and the neighbor (sp?) (Jim) came over to give me some gun parts becuase he was moving. So of couse i was like sweet free stuff. So i took him out and showed him the herculiner on my floor, and i was telling him that i planed to bore the TB next. Hes like "i have a metal lathe in my basement" so i was all happy then he says "im moving next week to a diff state so if you want it done you need to get the part. (dammit lol) So today after school i went to the same JY as before and paid the 65 bucks for that TB, becuase jim said he didnt want to mess up the one on my jeep and that i should by a spare. So i took all the sensors off and took it over to him tonight, he said he will return it in the morning, and he siad he is going to clean up the runners (i guess thats what you call them, side holes) and polish it up for me.
I cant wait. Tomarow i will take some pics.

Oh and alex is a liar. 96+ are not the same, the sensors are different, But it no big deal, ill just use the sensors from my stock Tb. just thought you might want to know that.

One more thing, i was saying that i might buy the hole intake, Well when i went out to look at the jeep that i got the parts of, it had been hit in the nose pretty hard and rolled. i think the hole frame (unibody w/e) was twisted sideways becuase the engine was about sitting on the ground, it was a mess, and i think the intake was damaged so i didnt buy it. But it did have factory skids and a bunch of other little factory goodys so i might go back and rob a few more parts another day.

i used a cutting bit and a drill press. dont ask where i got this bit from because ive had it for years. it has a cutting bit that adjusts in and out all you have to do is set the depth and cut. it took 10 min tops. if i can find out where to get one ill let you guys know. (edit) i just google searched "adjustable hole cutters" click on the site that says holesaw.com it will take you to the adjustable cutters by ostar. what i did was took the drill bit shaft off, and put the extension shaft in the press turned the cutting bit the right way and started cutting. do the goolgle search first.

well, Jim said he probaly wouldnt be able todo it till tomarow after noon. My dad just called and said "im holding your tb in my hand do you want ot come get it" so i went and got it and it looks great. Im half tempted to go put it on in the dark in a non heater or lighted garage, but i guess ill just wait till tomarow.

Anyone know where get the gaskets for this?
Are they something autozone would carry?

Hey thanks for the info i bored mine last weekend with a 2in drum and a drill cause my drill press' shaft was bent. came out very nice especially since the home depot sandpaper drum kit came with a coarse grit and a fine which left a good finish. I dont really notice any power, prob cause mine is a renix and head and the ports flow as well as a straw, but it def runs alot smoother
