Got bored today

So i decided to mess around with the drill press i got for $40 from harbor freight and bore a throttle body.

here is the result (stock on the left, bored on the right)

I put it on Rasta_Coty's jeep, since i already have a bored throttle body, and noticed there was a definate increase in power and it only took me 15 min to do .

Now i can mess around and see what i can do with the spare throttle body

i just went to harbor freight and got the drum sander kit...but it think it was like 80 grit and i used the medium speed setting...like 1120rpms..620 was too slow and 3200 seemed a bit dangerious

Details !!!!
I have a drill press, How would i go about doing this.
Is it as simple as it looks, just sand it our so it is the same size from top to bottom?
Anything i should watch out for?
I think i might try this, But im afraid i will screw it up (i dont have a spare)

i bought a spare from a junkyard for $25, so if i messed up no big deal. To begin with you are not going to be going all the way through the throttle body. First you flip it upside down and measure how far the butterfly valve is...this is the "danger zone"..you do not want to go past this! Then remove all the sensors. Then you remove the valve by removing the 2 screws that hold it in and letting the valve slid through the top of the throttle body. then you pull out the shaft. From there i took the gasket for the throttle body and centered it on the bottom of the throttle body and marked the inside of the gasket so i knew how much to remove (the gasket is 60mm in diameter). Then i just took that small drum sander and worked my way around. I tried making the drum bigger by adding more sanding paper, but that didn't work out too well . all you want to do is remove that little lip around the bottom. also if you are by yourself this could be dangerous. i had coty hold the handle that moved the drill down while i used 2 hands to hold on to the throttle body...not the safest thing to do, but we got it done. Also i set the depth gauge on the drill to only go so far down as to not pass the "danger zone".

if you need more pics let me know....i need to mess with my spare tb soon

Cool, maybe i will stop by the JY and see how much they will charge for one.
They will probly tell me i have to buy the whole intake
But it cant hurt to give it a shot.

How much of a gain did you notice, was it worth doing it?
Ive heard there is a good gain in torque if you have a free flowing exhaust and a cone filter

Oh and more pics are always good
What are you going todo to the spare one?

coty's is probably as fast as mine now...but we still have to test that out It puts you back in your seat now..unlike before

with the spare i want to experiment with different opening sizes
